Massage...
is not just about applying oils onto the skin and rubbing the muscles to make us feel good, it also has a huge number of benefits to all the systems in the body. Massaging and relaxing the muscles has a domino effect to all the other systems of the body.

Through Massage we also bring about a relaxation that brings the body into HOMEOSTASIS. a place of balance where the body can repair and renew itself.

What can massage do for me?
Because massage affects all the systems in your body it can have a huge effect on how you feel. For example the muscles:
These are the most obvious part of the body to benefit from massage. Muscles are made up of fibres that slide over each other to contract (shorten & flatten) and pull on the bone that the muscles is attached to, to create movement. And when they are tight we feel it!

Now muscles can contract up to 50% of there normal length and through over use and stress the muscles stay contracted which causes imbalances in the body. Because the muscles are tight they also pull our posture out of alignment and they can constrict blood flow. This is why some people get headaches from sitting at their desk all day working at a computer and why some people suffer from stress headaches, it's because the muscles in the neck and shoulders have become so tight through bad posture and stress that it is restricting the blood flow.

The Benefits Of Massage
The benefits from massaging muscles are the releasing of the 3’t’s: Tightness, Tension and Toxins. Massaging muscles will:

1. Increase flexibility, posture and mobility
2. Remove waste toxins
3. Reduce the formation of adhesions
4. Increase circulation of blood to the bones

There are several other benefits to massage that are connected to all the systems of the body such as it:
  • Encourages slow deep breathing which helps us relax

  • Assists with the drainage of lymph from the cells to the lymph nodes which improves the circulation of the lymph and the removal of toxins from the cells

  • Encourages the body it to renew and repair itself

  • Helps stimulate and assist in the process of digestion and can speed up the elimination of waste products from the body

  • Increase blood supply, which carries nutrients to the skin
Overall Massage gives us a better body awareness and gives us a feeling of well-being. It allows us time to switch off and unwind and be a peace for a while.
